ABOUT ME
My Name is Danny Griffin,
Growing up i've always worked on projects with my family. My grandparents had a small farm and a walnut orchard in Clearlake Ca. My parents would always drop me off at the farm every weekend to help out around the house. By doing this I came accustomed to being outdoors and and appreciating nature. Later on we moved to Benicia where I joined Boy Scouts and was able to go on camping trips and learn more life and outdoor skills. The troop leader played an active role in the troop and kept us learning. It seemed that everything that man said was informative and he took every chance to turn any problem into a learning opportunity. Every meeting he would end with words of wisdom that lingered with us. He reminded me of Mr. Wilson from ToolTime tv show. I spent 12 years in Scouts, Obtained my Eagle Scout Badge and learned all the merit badges from Sailing to leather craft and first aid. These badges gave me the knowledge to handle any situation in life. After my Scouting career ended in early high school. I needed to find a job, I wandered from job to job trying to find on that I could fit into and would keep me happy. I went from a Small town Skate shop to Managing imported cars to getting my overhead pipe welding and blueprint drafting certifications, being a Driver/ Manager for a large Corporate party company and now I work for a Hardware store. None of these jobs suited me perfectly but all have something in common, Being outside and working with my hands. After hearing of West Valley’s Park Management program I had a realization. Working in parks has been my dream, It would be the perfect job. I could be outside working and pass on my knowledge to young campers as they find their calling outdoors. I am currently going to school at West Valley College and working my way through the Park Management Program. This program is great for people looking to get a career working the the Parks. I am most of the way through the program and only have a year left. |
